Bluewater and Energy star
Bluewater has teamed up with Energy Star to help promote Energy conservation in new and existing homes. ENERGY STAR new homes are independently verified to meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the EPA. These homes save homeowners money on utility bills, provide a more comfortable living environment with better indoor air quality, and help protect the environment. ENERGY STAR new homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20-30% more efficient than standard homes.
Despite the recent downturn in the housing market, both home builders and home buyers are continuing to invest in high efficiency performing homes that save buyers money on their utility bills, while helping to protect the environmental resources. The energy-efficient features of an ENERGY STAR qualified home can help homeowners save about $200-$400 per year on their utility bills, adding up to thousands of dollars over the years they live in the home. Today there are even government programs backing Energy efficient home mortgages, rebates and incentives for homeowners and businesses wanting to " Green" themselves.
Even if you are not building a Certified ENERGY STAR home there are many way in which you or your certified ENERGYSTAR contractor can make your home a much more efficient home that is not only healthy for you, your family, and your wallet, but also healthy for the world in which we live.
